Hughes Headlines Modifieds; Nottingham and Martin Score Big Wins at Rocket Raceway Park Shakedown
Rocket Raceway Park officially kicked off the 2026 racing season Saturday night with the annual Shakedown on February 28, delivering a full program of high-intensity dirt track action across six competitive divisions. While the event did not award championship points, the night served as a powerful preview of what fans can expect this season.
Jason Hughes of Watts, Oklahoma, claimed the feature win in the Day MotorSports Modified division after a strong 20-lap performance against a stacked field. Hughes battled throughout the night and capitalized in the A-Feature to secure the early-season statement victory. Trevor Hughes finished second, while Matthew Day of Farmersville, Texas, rounded out the podium in third after transferring through preliminary action.
In Jr. Limited Modified competition, Cameron Nottingham of Pottsboro, Texas, captured the 15-lap feature victory with a poised and confident drive.
Kolton Whitworth crossed the line in second, followed by Jared Cheek in third, showcasing the depth of young talent competing at Rocket Raceway Park in 2026.
The Offen Petroleum Factory Stock division saw Mason Martin of Kaufman, Texas, take control and earn the feature win in commanding fashion.
Wayne Melton finished second, with Ty Abernathy claiming third. The division featured multiple side-by-side battles throughout the field, giving fans a glimpse of what could be one of the most competitive classes this season.
Strong Start to 2026
